This course includes curricular and instructional resources for Oregon educators working with students with significant cognitive disabilities (SWSCD), but many of the materials will be useful for all special and many general educators. All resources are built from the Essentialized Standards (EsSt) that the Oregon Extended Assessment (ORExt) was designed from, published as Essentialized Assessment Frameworks (EAFs). The EAFs are published at the following link: http://www.brtprojects.org/publications/training-modules
There are curricular and instructional examples that are aligned to the EsSt in English language arts, mathematics, and science in the grade levels assessed on the ORExt provided. The resources also include two course modules, one for developing Present Levels of Academic and Functional Performance (PLAAFP) and another for developing appropriate Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives.
The goal of this course is to provide a framework and multiple examples that demonstrate how to directly digest standards and adapt them to meet the needs of students functioning at multiple cognitive, communicative, and experiential levels.
